1. Do not Publish your email
Never ever showing your email to the public either you post in forum, Mail Group, message box, chat box, comment form and so much more, If you wants to tell your email, do it private, or you can post your email like this youremail [a] host.com, this will also prevent you from being spammed, because there are many spam bot machine out there that could detect and spamming your email.
2. Use Different Email
Having 2 different email from your payment processor (let say: Paypal) and your GPT (Get Paid To) program is the best way to prevent you from getting hacked.

If we just talking about using different email now we are talking about using different password. You'll have to make 2 different password that were using for
- Your email
- payment processor and
- GPT program
4. Be Smart
When you join something, you have to make sure if its a Scam site or not, for PTC (Paid-to-Click) site you can see them Here else just use your brain, if there is any site that offering you to make money with fast then do explore on Google!.
If you feel doubt about the site you're joined, then use different password from the trusted one and different email from your payment processor
5. Do Not use Common Password
Common password means something related to your life, it could be your Birthday, your parent name, Your first 3 digit telephone number - Everything that could be included in User profile. Use a combination of special character, letter and number is the best way of creating good password!
6. Do Not Join Warez/Hacking/Porn Site
If you really insist to join, then use different password and email from your main email (the one you used often) and payment processor
7. Never telling your password
Do not ever you telling your password even to your friend whatever he is. Any unwanted condition could happened, if you have an affair with your friend, then he could do something really bad on you.
8. Never Open Unknown Email
If you don know anything about what you just received or never recall that you have been involved in that site, then don bother to open or even clicking it. Some phishing attempt can come from anywhere that claimed themself from Yahoo, Paypal, e-gold and Alertpay. If you must click the URL to find out, then please read also the URL address bar, if its lead to somewhere else instead www.yahoo.com then its very obvious its a phishing attempt
And thats all from me, if you want to add your experience here from not being hacked, then please do so to help other protecting their account

It is better be save than never. Me too have several email for several purpose. It is convenient that way. Plus there are many free mail services available.

thanks for the good info... thumbs up!
I use my main passwords (such as banking and paypal) with different email accounts and unique passwords. For other less important sites, I use OpenID because it is much easier to use and also relatively secure.
Another thing I never do is store my passwords automatically from FireFox or IE. You never know...
